BIOGRAPHY

20-something Zia Al-Khalil is a self-professed “high-heel-aholic” & neurotic. Both can be linked to her stint in the U.S. Navy. Born & raised in New Jersey, Zia’s not sure how long she has been writing, but does know that she was first published at the age of 11, which means she has been officially writing for at least 10 years. She sometimes goes by the pen-name of Gina Spinelli; the Italian version of her name—Zia is an Egyptian diva…

A Sagittarius like Jenn, Zia likes to shop, read, cook, kayak, and wear really cool shoes. She is known to party into the wee hours of the night; but also stays busy working at a nonprofit for interreligious understanding & goes to school full time. She has grand dreams of becoming a political analyst or foreign diplomat or pursuing a PhD in Middle Eastern studies. She speaks Arabic very poorly, but is a pretty decent belly dancer.

Ms. Al-Khalil would like to publish a book of poetry but realizes that she has no clue where to start. She aspires to one day be cool like Jenn, Christine, and Ingrid. She will soon be harassing them for their help.

Zia is now growing awkward by continually referring to herself in the third person. So stop reading this and read her poetry instead. Say hi to her at the next First Friday. If you are a hot guy, give her your number. Seriously.
