POETRY & JAZZ JAM – TUESDAYS @ CLUB DELUXE

September 2006 Re-cap...

September brought warm days, sunshine, a little breeze of music-inspired verse and a whole lot of experimentation. This month we were blessed with:

— Filling in for Ingrid on a camping trip with the folks, E.K. Keith, goddess-poet extraordinaire and host at the Unity Cafe, came to guest co-host. Not only does she write some great poetry, she dishes out inspiring introductions.

— Ozzy came in to make us yell, scream and take part in a little poetic CRACK session! He crafted audience participation for his poem and amplified his words three-fold. Ozzy = energy and we love him for it.

— We had some surprising musical acts, such as a sometimes spacey sounding zylophone, rigged with an effects pedal. It was a fun and unique instrument added to our Nova Jazz Quartet for the night. Come back again, so we can have another Ode to Pluto!

— Hanna has been blowing us away. Not only does this lady have a killer voice, she has a killer stage presence. She's by far our favorite siren.

— We had singers, wild instruments and now we had a tap dancer accompanied by our band, poet Wiseproof and a congo player! We were floored. One night they took us out till the end with an extended surprise performance. You never know what to expect at Deluxe.

— Owen needed a little help reading his poem in the dark, so Jennifer stepped in with a little mood-lighting. A poet has to see!

— Nick has been tearing up the mic with his beatbox rhymes and love poems. Here he his with Matty, as they show us how it's done at Deluxe.

Come on down every Tuesday and to our special events: Sun. Oct 22nd for the Poetry Bus Wordparty and Oct. 31st, come in costume for Halloween!

See you next week!!!

—Ingrid, Jennifer & Daniel
