July 2006 Re-cap...

There were so many great performances in July but the most memorable was our one year anniversary party on July 18th! The SF Chronicle covered the night in full-force on the front and back cover of the “Datebook” section and even created a beautiful audio slide show online. We've had such an amazing year—as you can see from our re-cap pages in the archive section. We made sure we were prepared to entertain the wild and diverse crowd in attendance, and as expected, the energy was off the charts! We just want to thank all the musicians and poets who make this night so much fun and so inspiring.

— We had our first WordParty Awards for best poets and musicians. The Poet J.C. was voted in by the audience as the People's Choice winner for Best Poet. He won a copy of Letter's to a Young Poet, by Rilke and a VIP card to get anywhere on the sign-up list when he comes! Go J.C.!!!

— Tied for Best Poet was Jesse Whiley! Jesse was one of the first poets who came to our night and we were so happy the audience recognized his greatness! He also won a VIP card and a subscription to Poesy.

— As promised we had a huge (and very cheerful) birthday cake to share with the whole club, along with lots of snacks! Poets and musicians get hungry doing their thing!

— The night was packed with the best of the best and we knew it would be so we handed out our first WordParty Awards. Click here for a full list of the winners!
