January 2006 Re-cap...

The poets came out in full-effect this month completely filling up our sign-up sheet. We had to turn it over to make more room! Each week we couldn't wait to run over to Deluxe and see who would show up to shock us, make us cry, howl with laughter, or just plain move us. A big shout-out to all the jazz musicians and poets who keep showing up to make Tuesdays nights incredible. We love you and we do it for the love.

–The year of the Dog is in effect and according to Cara Vida (see top left) it's the year to make some $$$! She wowed us this month with two amazing performances, complete with bling and other props. We love Cara Vida!

–Tatiana and Pablo have been keeping it soulful and smooooooth with their special brand of spoken word at Club Deluxe.

–Ozzy showed up for two incredible performance pieces about smoking weed and the black cats at his window, meeeowww! Our main man Thatcher chimed in on his trumpet and howled away.

–Jennifer had fun passing the mic back and forth at the tail end of a jazz tune with Lorin, resident Scat-Master! He is incredible!

–Tracy knows what to do to move us. He's been showing us his range as a poet by rocking the mic and then switching it up with some love poems.

–Who can post a re-cap without mentioning Ramu? Can he get any better? First he gave us a personal lesson in Greek Mythology, then a lecture on how SF can be a little nicer. Listen up SF!!

–Acyan, a fellow Brooklynite, graced us with a moving poem about his father, and his mom was in the audience too! Mom...you did good.

–We still can't do enough justice to all the poets and musicians who made it hot this month! We love you.
