February
2006 Re-cap...
February—the month of love to some and to others, disdain! At Club Deluxe,
there was a lot of both to be had, but most of all, we had a good time. February
brought energetic crowds, old and new faces, shocking performances, and heart-warming
poetry and jazz. Here are a few highlights from the past month:
– Cara Vida never ceases to amaze us with her stellar verse and sparkly
outfits. Just in time for Valentine's Day, she showed up in pink glitter hearts
and showered us with the history of her love!
– Mark Schwartz came in good cheer with some old and new poems with
and without musical accompaniment. He moved us! We love Mark!
– Some were inspired to rap about love! A hilarious performance with
our band and quick-witted verse by Xav Bastidas entertained all.
– Rashna returned to spread her love, accompanied by her friend and
vocalist. She shared with us, in vivid detail, her sexual fantasy involving
strawberries, exciting our famous birthday-boy on the trumpet—Thatcher!
I think he's in love...and we love him right back. If we could be cupid, those
two would be married.
– The Nova Jazz quartet, seen rocking out as always, welcomed some new
musicians this month—Cameron on guitar and Jesse on drums. Our resident
Daniel on tenor sax and Colin on bass, with his shoes off!
Valentine's Day may be over, but everyday is Valentine's Day to us. Come on
down every Tuesday to Club Deluxe and spread your love, your verse, and your
music.
Hope to see you next week!!!
