POETRY & JAZZ JAM – TUESDAYS @ CLUB DELUXE

August 2006 Re-cap...

August was not hot in San Francisco. As a matter of fact, it was downright cold, except at Club Deluxe of course! August brought our favorite musicians back to the stage. W
e had the return of Colin to the bass and Mike to the guitar. We even had Ross on guitar and Chad on bass, come to play.

We had our favorite poets and performers arrive in top form, full of energy and ready to change it up. We witnessed some of our favorites try new things and here are some of the highlights:

— Phil has been coming to freestyle on the mic and fall all over the stage. He knows how to move even though carries a walking stick!

— Matt Wolf did something we've never seen a poet do at Deluxe, tear up his piece as he read it. A moving one about his mother and a stage full of poetic shards in his wake, Matt knows how to experiment, he's not afraid!

— Jimmy, (insert alias here) likes to change his name on the sign-up sheet as well as break out his new work and his favorite mantra - Om Tat Sat. He's really been wowing us on Tuesdays with his energy.

— Nick is one of the most charming and energetic poets who always comes late, but when he gets on the list we know it's going to be fun. In this one shot, he brought Jesse on-stage to go back and forth on a piece with him.

— Steven is so tall he ripped the mic off the stand! It was fun to watch him read with half a mic, which he did through his entire piece. Way to make due with what you got...and he's got a lot.

— A new poet to Club Deluxe and a very eloquent wordsmith, Geoffrey Lake, came and shared some moving work with us. He was one of our favorites.

September is here and we have new events coming up, check out our homepage for the details. Come down to Deluxe and show us what you got. Maybe we'll see you on the next re-cap page!

See you next week!!!
